As we monitor the progress of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in North America and around the world our focus remains the health and wellbeing of our employees, while continuing to serve our customers as best as possible.
Under guidance provided to date by the local, state/provincial, and federal governments in each of the communities in which we operate, ROCKWOOL has been designated as an essential service. As an important component in the North American supply chain of food production, construction projects in the healthcare sector and the construction of critical infrastructure, our products continue to be relied upon every day and we plan to maintain operations unless direction from the aforementioned authorities is otherwise provided or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control dictate.
Additional preventive measures have been implemented at our manufacturing facilities to minimize the risk of infection and transmission including:
- Aggressive new cleaning procedures,
- Social distancing through staggered breaks, removing face-to-face meetings, and adjustments made to our production processes to ensure employees can remain two meters (six feet) apart,
- More frequent hand washing,
- Self-quarantine requirements associated with any travel, and
- Ensuring that hand sanitizer and wipes are readily accessible for reasons of personal hygiene and disinfecting shared equipment.
ROCKWOOL has also added new protocols for employees, visitors and couriers entering our manufacturing facilities. After reaching the gatehouse, all personnel will be required to complete a self-declaration questionnaire confirming that they have not been exposed to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Signage will be displayed at all entrances to the building warning employees and visitors not to enter the facilities if they exhibit any of the symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has.
Should we encounter a situation where someone on site is demonstrating symptoms or confirms a positive diagnosis of the virus, our site staff are trained on how to efficiently isolate and remove that individual from the facility, ensure others that were in close contact with them are also sent home, complete a rigorous cleaning effort, and oversee a quarantine period for those employees until they are released to work by a medical professional.
